City of Suwanee has opened its newest park
The City of Suwanee has opened its newest park – the fifth to be created through its award-winning Open Space Initiative. Sims Lake Park is comprised of 62 idyllic acres located at Suwanee Dam and Tench Roads.

"We just absolutely loved it," says Maria Stanfield of her and her husband David's visit to the park. "The feeling it gave me – it was a total feeling of being at home, like I really belonged there.
"Some of the views were incredible," Stanfield adds. "Who needs to drive to North Georgia to see the leaves this fall? We can enjoy them right here and save a lot of gas!"

Chili Cook-off was a great success!
The First Annual (?) Chili Cook-Off had a turnout of 33 adults and lots of kids! We had 6 great Chili Contestants who supplied everyone with a taste of their wonderful chilis! Thanks to Drew Goins, Greg Tiller, Cambree Harris, John Buchanan, Dick Mayer, and Lee Atherton for taking the time to prepare a fun feast for us all!John Buchanan made the winning "Texabilly Chipotle Chili", followed by Drew Goins's "Big Daddy Chili", with Lee Atherton's "Game Day Chili" taking 3rd. Every chili was delicious and we appreciate every entrant for their time and donation to the evening.
We had 2 local restaurants generously donate gift cards for this event. Thanks to Stephanie at Ippolito's at Town Center and Tim at Jim & Nick's BBQ on Old Peachtree (by Home Depot & 85) for donating gift certificates for our Cook-Off. Please support these restaurants!
Thanks to John Buchanan for asking these great restaurants to donate to our Homeowner Association Events!
Thank you to everyone who helped out with setting up & cleaning up.
Everyone really pitched in to make this easy and keep our clubhouse clean! Thanks!!
Get ready to come out to our next event on October 25. Our neighborhood Halloween Carnival is sure to be ghoulishly good!
Keeping the lights on...
Blues and BBQ Thank You
We had the largest turnout for our neighborhood Blues & BBQ event yet! Spanky and the Love Handles transformed our pool area into a cool blues joint where neighbors munched on lots of great barbeque and side dishes.
Thanks go out to the many people who helped make this event happen and flow smoothly. John Buchanan grilled up the idea for this event and followed through with lots of pulled pork and chicken barbeque and helped immensely in the set-up and clean-up of the evening.
Thanks to Lee Atherton and Tracy Blankenship for flyer handout and general support. Thank you to Pam & Philip Austin, Marcus Schrichte, Jan Polanski & Chris Nevels for helping in the clean-up. Thanks to all the neighbors who came out to this gathering. It shows what a great neighborhood we have!
Check out the our Gallery section for photos of the event.
